Marie

In his photographic work, Bahram Shabani plays with the spheres two realities, two image worlds. With photographic means he approaches advertising posters, where women look in the most smiling manner into the camera and redirects the view of the observer back. He transforms his meaning by transforming photographs that have been made for commercial purposes into an artistic context. In the series "Marie", one-off testimonials now hang on the museum wall and allow observers to reflect on the significance of female beauty. It is not without humor and irony that new contexts of meaning emerge that often play with the coincidence and the feeling of finding one's way.
